With Plains focused on continued growth in the future, Corporate Communications has identified the need for a Communications Analyst, based in the Calgary corporate office, to support internal and external communications activities.  This newly defined role reports to the Director, Corporate Communications and will require some travel to our field locations.


Responsibilities:

  • Support the Corporate Communications function - participating in program development discussions; writing and developing communications materials; and working with members of the communications team/ internal clients to deliver quality communications programs and deliverables;
  • Assist in media monitoring; review market trends and competitor/industry activities;
  • Provide general fact checking service to ensure accuracy of information in communications materials;
  • Prepare/finalize staff presentations;
  • Support information collection, review and distribution associated with quarterly reports;
  • Facilitate external information requests;
  • Implement special projects as assigned;
  • Coordinate day-to-day corporate community investment activities. Work to help align field-based activities with corporate approach;
  • Assist in coordination of internal meetings, special events, and materials production as required;
  • Coordinate, and support employee communication requirements of Human Resources on policies, benefits/ compensation, leadership programs and to help build internal awareness of company and employee achievement and activities.

Qualifications:

  • A recent graduate of a communications, journalism or public relations undergraduate degree program or certificate program;  
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills;
  • Ability to multi-task and work on a wide variety of projects and deadlines;
  • Strong interpersonal skills, sound judgment and problem-solving skills;
  • Capable of working independently and as part of a team;
  • Oil and gas experience is an asset;
  • Membership with IABC or CPRS is an asset;
  • Knowledge of software applications including desktop publishing and web page design is preferred.
