Customs Analyst

Plains has an opening for a Customs Analyst reporting to the Manager, Transborder Compliance.  This is a newly created position responsible for providing support in identifying, recommending and initiating changes to a growing department.   

Responsibilities:

  • Knowledge of Canadian and U.S. Customs regulations such as the Harmonized Tariff Schedule, US & CDN Reconciliation or B2 processes, ACE & eManifest, post entry regulatory adjustments, and border security initiatives such as C-TPAT and PIP;
  • Identify key opportunities for process improvements;
  • Analyze and support the implementation of solutions to eliminate identified Customs compliance deficiencies;
  • Experience and knowledge of all modes of international logistics;
  • Working experience auditing Customs entries, Brokers invoices, and authorizing payment or initiating post entry corrections.

Qualifications:

  • Post secondary education preferred (diploma/certificate with a focus on international business or supply chain and logistics);
  • CITT or P.Log. certification or working towards;
  • Canadian or US- CCS (Certified Customs Specialist) professional designation, or currently enrolled;
  • Customs Broker License or qualified status favorable;
  • Minimum 5 years in Customs and Trade Compliance experience, or experience working for an importer, or a Customs Broker, or a combination thereof;
  • Solid working knowledge of the US and Canadian customs process, laws and regulations;
  • Advanced computer skills, specifically Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point;
  • Self motivated, quick learner, and ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders;
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with an ability to effectively prioritize work to meet established deadlines.
  • Working experience in developing policies and procedures;
