Intermediate Buyer

Plains Midstream Canada is currently looking for a creative and energetic buyer to join our team in the Calgary office, reporting to the Manager, Purchasing. As part of our Purchasing group the Intermediate Buyer will provide cost effective services in the sourcing of goods and services for the company.
Responsibilities:
- Developing and implementing strategy including leveraging opportunities enterprise wide;
- Leading negotiation for commercial transactions;
- Effectively managing goods or services and the respective supplier relationships;
- Leading and facilitating of cross-functional sourcing projects;
- Working effectively in a team environment and with all levels of leadership;
- Designing and implementing policies/practices that support the purchase and supply of goods and services;
- Applying innovation and effective negotiation to meet supply requirements.
Qualifications:
- University degree/college graduate with 4 years of related experience or 8 years experience in the purchasing profession & completed Level 2 of PMAC or equivalent designation;
- Demonstrated ability in achieving results through the application of strategic purchasing practices;
- A proven track record with effective participation on cross-functional teams, and generating results through coordinating the inputs and efforts of others;
- Strong knowledge of business issues and ability to shape and implement solutions to complex and multi-dimensional problems;
- Strong identification with unit holder value and the ability to drive to it in balance with provision of a high level of service to internal customers;
- Consistently meet internal customers expectations and company performance measures;
- Ability to understand and manage the inter-relationship between operational, technical, and commercial issues;
- Strong skills and demonstrated capability for achieving results through negotiation, planning and execution.
