Plains Midstream Canada has an immediate opening for a Manager, Regulatory Affairs to be based out of our head office in Calgary, Alberta. This is a newly created position responsible for managing the company’s regulatory applications, approvals and compliance issues at the provincial and federal levels in western Canada.


Responsibilities:

  • Champion the company’s regulatory affairs programs and initiatives;
  • Develop and execute project specific regulatory approval plans;
  • Lead the applications, approvals and compliance team;
  • Support business development with timely license/permit applications and approvals;
  • Participate in the development of pipeline and facility regulatory approval plans;
  • Manage application logistics to securing full regulatory approval on-time and on-budget;
  • Coordinate land acquisition, public consultation, environmental assessment programs within the context of project specific regulatory case strategies;
  • Participate in public awareness and First Nations consultation processes;
  • Monitor other industry applications, identify need for and lead interventions accordingly;
  • Coordinate and task consultants and external specialists as is required to propel projects to completion;
  • Maintain a current and effective knowledge of applicable regulations and industry best practices;
  • Ensure that management, employees and contractors continue to be responsible for compliance;
  • Interact positively with industry counterparts and regulators;
  • Identify and prioritize business needs to maintain compliance.

 

Qualifications:

  • 15+ years progressive regulatory affairs experience in the oil and gas sector;
  • 7+ years leadership experience with the ability to manage a diversely skilled team and provide clear direction;
  • Proven success in prosecuting pipeline and facility license applications (in Alberta and Saskatchewan);
  • Experience taking projects through public hearings;
  • Skilled in First Nations consultation;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence and motivate people;
  • Understands management systems, techniques and applications;
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications;
  • A team player who thrives in a busy environment with multiple priorities;
  • Valid driver’s license is required.
