Senior Project Engineer

Plains currently has an opening for a Senior Project Engineer to join our Crude Oil Engineering Group.  Along with a proven track record, the ideal candidate will have a 10+ years of crude oil facility and pipeline design, project management and construction experience.  We are looking for a candidate who thrives in a fast paced environment and is confident in their ability to work on multiple projects while managing the progress of others.



Responsibilities:

  • Work on engineering and construction related activities of crude oil and pipelines, terminals and related facilities in Alberta and Saskatchewan;
  • Prepare preliminary design and project proposals;
  • Prepare estimates for projects, ranging from conceptual screening estimates to detail estimates forming the basis for firm budget proposals;
  • Plan, manage and coordinate capital and operational projects for design, cost, schedule and quality standards;
  • Develop and implement detailed project plans as well as select and lead a project team;
  • Manage outside engineering consulting companies and negotiate with contractors for the supply of materials and services;
  • Use well-established methods to assist with project control.

Qualifications:

  • Registered professional engineer (APEGGA) with 10 – 15 years of relevant experience in the oil and gas industry;
  • PMP designation preferred;
  • Advanced cost estimating experience;
  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills and work well in a team setting;
  • Possess excellent communication ability, both written and verbal;
  • Strong computer, organizational and technical skills;
  • Excellent track record with budget, cost monitoring and control experience;
  • Reliable, responsible and safety-conscious;
  • Capable of problem solving and able to meet deadlines;
  • Logical and methodical understanding of complex information;
  • Ability to work under pressure on multiple projects at the same time.
